A Trip To European Charter
On Wednesday, participants of #Triangle4youth examined the European charter on the participation of young people in local and regional life, which enshrines certain political, social, and economic rights and what's the most important for us - Charter says what and how Local and Regional Authorities should support young people.
Participants explored three sections of the Charter: Part one giving local and regional authorities guidelines on how to conduct policies affecting young people; part two, which provides some tools for furthering the participation of young people and the third part, which advises on how to provide institutional conditions for the participation of young people.
Youngsters and local authority representatives worked together. Our trainer, Nika, introduced the Participant's Corner and Forum of this website. Groups had an opportunity to read essential materials including European Charter on youth participation in English, European Charter Brochure Plain English, European Charter on youth participation in Russian online, on this website. After that, we played the game TRUE or FALSE, asking the participants to find out if the statements stated by the facilitator are true.
Not surprisingly, every single participant found out that the statement: ,,According to the charter, youth participation means voting and standing for elections'' was so very false.
